Getting to Harvard University

The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA, or the T) runs the area's public transportation, including the subway system, buses, and water taxis. Their Web site includes information about getting around, schedules, and a trip planner. Harvard University is located on the Red line. Exit station via the Harvard Yard exit. Enter Harvard Yard through Johnson's Gate (the main gate). Cross through the old yard, and through the inner yard in front of Widner Memorial Library. Exit the yard at Quincy Street. The Sackler is to the left on Broadway, and Fairbank is adjacent on Cambridge.

Logan International Airport is the closest large airport. There are smaller airports nearby, like Hanscom Field in Bedford, Massachusetts, Manchester Airport in Manchester, New Hampshire, and T.F. Green in Providence, Rhode Island.

Amtrak stations close to Harvard University include South Station, Back Bay, and North Station. These stations also connect to different subway and bus lines of the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority. South Station is on the same subway line, the Red Line, as Harvard's Cambridge campus.
Greyhound (link: greyhound.com) and other national bus operators stop at the South Station bus terminal as well.
