Founder and Host, Sinica Podcast; Sinica Podcast 创始人、主持人
Kaiser Kuo is host of the Sinica Podcast, a weekly discussion of current affairs in China that has run continuously since April 2010, and serves as editor-at-large of SupChina. After living in China for 20 years, Kaiser moved with his family back to the U.S, and now lives in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Prior to leaving China, Kaiser served as director of international communications for Baidu, China’s leading search engine. However, his career in China began on a very different path; he was co-founder and guitarist of China’s first heavy metal band, Tang Dynasty, and went on to play guitar in the Beijing-based metal band Chunqiu (Spring & Autumn). He has worked at magazines including Time and Red Herring as an internet startup technology reporter for several years, and as a digital strategist for Ogilvy. Kaiser writes and speaks frequently on topics related to the Chinese internet, politics, and US-China relations. In 2016, he was recognized for his “substantial contributions to bridging the US and China through innovation” by the Asia Society of Northern California.
