Meifang Zhang has been the Deputy Consul General of the Chinese Consulate General in NY since November 2013. Prior to that, she was the Deputy Consul General of China in Toronto in 2008-2013. In 2004-2008 Meifang was the Director of the Department of International Organizations and Conferences, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) in Beijing. She also worked as a special assistant to H.E. Qian Qichen, China’s former Vice Premier and Minister of Foreign Affairs on the High-Level Panel on the Reform, Challenges and Change of the United Nations. Before that, she served as the Assistant Chairperson of the Public Relations Department of Beijing 2000 Olympic Games Bid Committee. In 1990s, she worked in MFA as an official Interpreter for Chinese leaders and some foreign heads of state and government during their official trips in China. Meifang spent four years in the Chinese Embassy in Paris and over two years in the Permanent Mission of China to UN. Meifang was born in Shanghai. She got BA in East China Normal Unversity and MPHIL in International Relations in Cambridge.

张美芳女士自2013年11月始任中国驻纽约总领馆副总领事;此前,她曾于2008年至2013年出任中国驻多伦多副总领事。2004至2008年期间,她担任外交部国际司非政府组织处处长。张美芳还曾任中国前副总理兼外交部部长钱其琛的特别助理,协助其在联合国“威胁,挑战和改革”问题高级别小组的工作。在此之前,她曾在北京申办2000年奥运会筹委会公关联络部任主席助理。二十世纪九十年代,她曾任外国国家元首及政府首脑在华访问期间的官方口译员。她还曾在中国驻法国大使馆工作了四年,并在中国驻联合国常驻代表团工作了两年。张美芳出生于上海,曾在华东师范大学取得学士学位,后在剑桥大学取得国际关系硕士学位。
