Tian Wei 田薇

Tian Wei 田薇

Anchorwoman, CCTV; CCTV

Tian Wei has served as the announcer and producer of China International Radio Station. She has been the judge of POP National Children’s English Contest and the judge of CCTV English Contest (CCTV-10). In the February of 2009, Wei was invited to accompany the United States Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for a two-day visit to China and interviewed Hillary Clinton. Before joining CCTV, Wei served as a journalist in the United States, and reported the war in Iraq and the war in Afghanistan. She has successfully transitioned from the reporter to a journalist-style host. Wei believed that the experience of being a journalist developed her sense of judgement, which is crucial for a host. “Now we are talking about the Chinese voice, and our director often tells us the importance of having the Chinese perspective. In fact,  this perspective is a sense of judgment, an ability to comment. Only after you have experienced judging and commenting on site over and over again, you can finally judge and comment in the studio.”
